Cranksgiving is coming back to Sioux Falls on November 19, 2016!
Cranksgiving is a fun competitive (or non-competitive if you like), opportunity to give back to the community in the form of a food drive for Feeding South Dakota. All you need is a bicycle, a lock, a backpack or panniers, a few dollars, and the desire to help fight hunger.
Bicyclists will compete over a two hour period to see how many food items can be collected. This is where it gets fun. Each bicyclist can only buy one item at any one store. The challenge becomes how many grocery stores can be visited and what route will you take that gets you back to the finish line before time expires.
You can choose to ride solo, pair up with a buddy, or ride as a group. Each item you purchase counts toward your point total. Be sure to keep your receipts to prove you only purchased one item at each store.
Bring your smart phone too as you can earn additional points when you post pictures to Twitter, Instagram and Facebook using the hashtag #cranksgivingSFSD.
Will you cleverly plan a route to hit multiple stores in a short period of time? Will your strategy incorporate several social media posts in an attempt to claim victory? Will you ride solo or compete as part of a team? During the first Sioux Falls Cranksgiving, one father and son team did some clever route planning and used social media to achieve victory.
Come out and ride the Second Annual Cranksgiving, compete for glory or just come see how many stores you can visit in the 2 hour period. You’ll help Feeding South Dakota and have a great time!
See you there.
